Samiur Rahman and I joined service together in 1973 in what came to be known as the “First Common Training Batch”, following the Administrative Reforms of 1973. I ended up in the Revenue Service while Sami joined the Police Service.

Normally one rarely associated trait with police officers in Pakistan is love for fine arts and photography. Even less with an officer of famed “Punjab Pullace!” But Sami proved that social profile was completely wrong.

Started photography at the age of 40, participated in over 500 FIAP and PSA approved Exhibitions, won over 220 International Awards, received numerous Honours and Distinctions from International Photographic Associations and most prestigiously, was conferred President’s Award for Pride of Performance (Art Photography) in 2003.

Enough said, because his photography speaks far more than can be expressed in words. Watch a few of his expert shots below and then head for countless more on his personal website; to view and even to buy!
